Dog Daycare
We specialize in small group play in daycare. We have dog loving, well trained attendants in facility and supervising 24/7. New dogs will be temperament tested on their first day (Mon-Sat appts available) You can add an outside walk, training, enrichment or more to their day, tooTrainer
Overnights - social
Our overnight pups are in daycare all day and sleepover on comfy beds in a social setting at night with our attendants. You can add enrichment activities to their stay, too!
Private dog boarding
We only have 8 luxury suites, so book early!
Private boarding suite options are available for overnight stays and daycare for pups who want private daycare.
3 potty breaks are included & you can add on extras during their stay, too!
Private cat boarding
We have 2 private suites available for our feline friends with fun toys and climbing towers, scratching posts and litter boxes. Your cat(s) will get 2-3 visits each day for meals, fresh water and clean litter boxes. We also have mood lighting and relaxing music that plays in our suites.
Dog Grooming
We offer full service grooming with our professional groomer, along with extras like blueberry facials, de-shedding treatment, teeth brushing, paw soaks and more.
Basic baths are available almost every day, depending on staffing.

Pack walks
We take a small group of pups out for a fun 60 min pack walk almost every day (Mon-Fri) with a manager or our trainer. We offer 15 min walks every day of the week for individual walks. Reservations required since we book up quickly.
Training (back on Sept 21)
We are pleased to offer a few levels of training for your dog with one of our staff trainers. Day training & agility: 1 hour training with our dog trainer during daycare, most weekdays (reservations required) Structured walks: 30 min structured walks (during daycare) with our trainer, most weekdays (reservations required) Private lessons: 1 hour session (in person or virtual), most days/evenings (appointment required)
Small group daycare
We keep our playgroups small, so reservations are highly recommended since we have a lot of regulars. VIPs and subscribers are guaranteed a spot every day. Our daycare groups are separated based on temperament and size. Some small dogs may fit in better with the big dogs and vice versa. We assess the best place for them. We specialize in small group play and our dogs thrive in that environment. If you become a subscriber, you have a guaranteed spot with reservations. You will get a free report card on your first day. After that you can request a report card for $2. If you add enrichment or training to your dog's day or sign up to be a VIP or subscriber, report cards are free Reserve your spot today to join the fun!

Jen Klair started Wags & Ruffs in 2018 with one goal in mind - creating a safe & fun place for dogs (and now, cats) when they are away from home. She has a life-long love of animals and had a successful pet sitting business for many years when she lived in Tahoe with her husband and family. After running an online retail business for over 15 years, she wanted to return to working with animals and founded Wags & Ruffs Inc. Wags and Ruffs is a dog daycare and boarding facility in San Diego’s Midway area, offering small-group daycare and social boarding for a safer, more personalized experience. We also offer brand-new private suites for dogs or cats, plus grooming and training options while your pet stays with us or as a separate appointment. Whether you need daycare, overnight boarding, or extra enrichment, our focus is comfort, structure, and happy, well-socialized pets. *First Day for your pup is $25! We take fun seriously - and safety is always our number one concern. All dogs will have a temperament test on their first day and get introduced to our dog groups that are always supervised by one of our dog attendants. We cannot allow any dogs to join the Wags & Ruffs group play who are aggressive to dogs or people. We like to schedule your first day with our staff trainer to evaluate your dog(s) personality. Please schedule your first day on Monday-Saturday with drop-off between 7am-10am. Please call us to schedule if you can't make it during that time.
Additional services & Class
Day training
Our trainer will work with your pup on basic obedience during daycare (leash manners, recall, basic commands (sit, down, wait, come, leave it), fetching, searching, nose work and agility). If you have more complex issues, we will recommend a private lesson
Structured Walk
Our trainer will take your pup for a 30 min one on one structured walk. We can work on issues like pulling, fear, reactivity and more. If your dog has serious leash reactivity, we would recommend a private lesson with you. Structured walks are an add-on service for daycare or overnight pups
Beach day
We will take 1-2 dogs out for beach day (Mon & Thurs). This is an "additional service" to daycare or overnights and require a reservation. (Please note: beach days are for dogs who have been in training and tested for off leash recall OR we will keep them on a 20 foot lead the entire time)
Dog walking & Home visits
We have staff who are available for dog walking and/or home visits for cat homes. Please fill out the request form (button below) and one of them will contact you to arrange a meet & greet. Pricing and services are on that form as well
Enrichment time
Our enrichment sessions are super fun! We have 15 or 30 min sessions and it's one on one time with an attendant. Activities will include some of the following: kong wobbler (w/ treats inside), outside time, water time, red egg chase, fetch, tug of war, puzzle time and more. Your pup will love it 🙂
Socialization Class
Sept 21 is the next class This class is for puppies or dogs who have no aggression tendencies*, but have not had experience socializing with other dogs or need more experience. Ideal for puppies over 4 months and young adult dogs who need a controlled setting.
